Terms of service
The general terms under which an institution uses the service. The signed contract prevails over this page: anything marked here as to be defined lives in the contract, not here.
Market: Italy. Compliance documents are written per market. The AI Act layer is the same across all 27 member states; the age of digital consent and the grading scale are not, and each market gets its own folder before it opens.
01Who contracts and who uses it
The service is sold to an institution, with an annual licence. Students and teachers use it because their school has purchased it: they do not sign up individually and pay nothing.
- Contracting partyThe school, or the channel partner reselling the service to it. Not the teacher personally, not the family, not the student.
- Who uses the serviceTeachers and students of the contracting institution, within teaching activity. The school creates the accounts.
- Student accessWith a six-character class code. A student email address is not needed and not requested.
- Scopeapp.dialectica.education — debate and assessment activity for lower and upper secondary school.
02What the service does and does not do
The score calculated by the system is a proposal. The grade that enters the register is decided by a person, and it stays on record when the person changes it.
The score is called “World Schools–style score (training)”: it is not an official tournament score and does not count as one.
The service makes no decisions about a student's path. No feature automatically ranks, selects or excludes.
The debate opponent is a language model: it can get a fact wrong. Material it produces should be read as teaching material, not as a source.

03Permitted use
- Staff credentials are personal. An account shared between teachers makes the record of who confirmed a grade useless.
- The service is used for the contracting institution's teaching activity. Access is not granted to classes of other institutions.
- Student texts are not used to train models. No provider in the chain does so: the list is on the compliance page.
04Licence, duration and fee
Annual licence per institution. The band depends on the number of active students and does not involve a mid-year reconciliation of enrolments. The bands and separately invoiced items are on the pricing page.
The Pilot is free for one term, on one or two classes, and is granted by hand to an institution with a point-of-contact teacher. When it ends it does not turn into a paid subscription without a signature.

05Availability and interruptions
The service is updated during school hours only when the update is necessary, and scheduled interventions are communicated to the institution's point of contact before they are carried out.
Service levels, maintenance windows and support response times — to be published once the service-level document is approved. No availability percentage is stated before it can be measured.
06Personal data
The school is the data controller. Dialectica acts only on its instructions and, when the sale passes through a channel partner, as sub-processor. The relationship is governed by the agreement under art. 28 GDPR, not by this page.

07Content and ownership
The submissions written by students and the assessments confirmed by teachers belong to the school and to whoever wrote them. Dialectica keeps them to deliver the service and does not pass them to third parties.
The software, the rubrics, the interface text and the report templates remain Dialectica's. The licence allows using them in class, not reselling or republishing them as one's own.
08Termination and export
On termination the institution can export student reports before the data is deleted. Export is not a paid item.
Export window, delivered format and date of final deletion — published once scheduled deletion is active in the system: actual periods go here, not a promise.
09Changes, liability and jurisdiction
A change to these terms is communicated to the institution's point of contact and to the date shown at the top of the page. Previous versions are kept.
Limitation of liability, warranties, applicable law and competent jurisdiction — to be drafted with Italian legal counsel. This page does not state them until they are reviewed: a wrong clause is worse than a missing one.
